The Give A Hand programs are designed to give students the opportunity to personalize and sustain their volunteer experiences. During the Give A Hand programs, with the support of their mentors and program leaders, volunteers are given the opportunity to modify their experiences based on their varied passions and interests. In addition, following the summer programs, if the volunteers are willing, they will be provided with guidance and mentorship to continue and improve upon the personal goals they set in the program. They will be supported by the Give A Hand team whether they would like create a chapter in their high schools, perform academic research, or create unique social impact projects.
In the end, what makes Give A Hand unique is the vast opportunity it provides student volunteers with to grow and to lead. Students who have completed one Give A Hand program are encouraged to apply to become program leaders. These leaders, under the guidance of the program director, design the educational curriculum that will be taught to Syrian refugee children during the programs.
